Martinius Stenshorne will start the first round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship from 22nd on the grid following a challenging day at the Bahrain International Circuit.
As a championship and Bahrain rookie the 18-year-old Norwegian faced a steep learning curve. After a 45 minute practice session it was straight into qualifying where Martinius put in a series of laps, but putting together a perfect one proved tough. He lines up for the Sprint Race in 22nd position, hoping to move up through the field.
‘It was a difficult quali,’ said Martinius after the 30 minute session. ‘There are things I need to improve, but let’s see what we can do tomorrow. There’s two races to go and two more opportunities to learn and make some progress.’
The 19 lap Sprint Race gets underway at 13:15 local time.
