Norwegian racer Martinius Stenshorne delivered a storming performance in his first-ever FIA Formula 3 Championship race, moving an impressive 11 places from P22 on the grid to 11th at the flag fall.
The 18-year-old Hitech Pulse Eight driver used some awesome racecraft to move through the field over the 19-lap race. He kept clear of race start clashes to gain five positions and enter lap 2 in P17, and then steadily carved through the field to P14 by the sixth lap, overtaking Charlie Wurz and Nikita Bedrin.
The field circulated nose to tail throughout the race but Martinius put in a spectacular overtake to pass three cars in one corner. He crossed the line in 12th overall, just under a second from scoring points on his debut. Twelfth became 11th with post race penalties.
Martinius will start just outside the top ten for tomorrow’s 22-lap Feature Race, which starts at 12:00 local time.
