Martinius to contest GB3 Silverstone race

22.4.2024

Martinius Stenshorne, FIA Formula 3 race winner, is set to race for the first time on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit as he takes part in the GB3 Championship on 27 and 28 April.

The 18-year-old Norwegian will contest the second round of the highly-competitive UK domestic series with Chris Dittmann Racing alongside Hitech Academy racers Flynn Jackes and Seb Murray. Martinius arrives at Silverstone from a three-day F3 test at Barcelona as he continues his international F3 campaign with Hitech Pulse-Eight this season.

The Norwegian sensation has already tasted victory in the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship having clinched a fighting win in the Sprint Race in Melbourne, only his third race in the series. In 2023 he made history as the first rookie to win his debut race in Formula Regional Europe and finished as Vice Formula Regional European Champion overall and Rookie Champion Formula Regional European.

The GB3 Championship, partnered by the BRDC, is the UK’s premier single-seater category, and a key step on the ladder for aspiring F1 stars, with George Russell and Lando Norris cutting their teeth in the series. After two days of testing on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit, teams will tackle qualifying and the opening race on Saturday, April 27th, with races two and three the following day. Live coverage of all the action will be carried once again on the MSV TV channel on YouTube or the GB3 Championship website.

“I’m excited to join Chris Dittmann Racing for round two of the GB3Championship,” commented Martinius. “Silverstone is one of the most famous tracks on the calendar, but also one of the toughest and getting experience will be really valuable to take forward to the future. It’s going to be a learning experience, with a new car and a new track, but I’m confident we will get a lot out of the weekend. Thanks to Hitech GP and All Road Management for putting this together, I am looking forward to getting on track.”

Dan Hodder, Hitech Academy, added. “We are delighted to have Martinius compete alongside our regular Hitech Academy drivers, Flynn Jackes and Seb Murray, as we look to tackle this weekend’s second round of the GB3Championship at Silverstone. His experience will be very well received in the team, and we look forward to a strong weekend with Chris Dittmann Racing.”

Chris Dittmann, Team Owner: “We’re very happy to welcome Martinius to the team at Silverstone. We’ve built a positive relationship with the Hitech Academy, helping to get seat time for talented youngsters, helping develop their skills as racing drivers in key stages of their careers. It will be a new challenge for him, learning both the car and circuit, but we’ll be working hard as always to give him the best chance of success as possible.”
